Options/Lot

Options

We are nearing our point of no return (i.e. can't make any more changes). Of course, I am going through the option lists over and over again. Debating on whether I made the correct color combinations.  I went and visited two model homes in communities. I wanted to actually see the Tahoe Cherry cabinets paired up with various wood floors. One model home appeared to have the same wood floors that I chose. The other model home had a slightly lighter version but still dark. Luckily my lovely sister came along to help give me some advice. Basically, since they are both dark they are both going to show scratches so she recommended that I go with the one I like most..which are the floors that I picked out. Therefore, no changes to my wood flooring.

FYI- you can see pictures of the model homes along with some other random photos on the "MODEL HOME" tab.

Lot

My lot is staked out now. I am able to see where my property line begins and end. While out viewing my property, I met my neighbors. There foundation is poured and the wood for framing has been delivered. We are scheduled to move in a month apart.

I also stopped to talk to a few people walking around the neighborhood. They said they love the community. The HOA put on a lot of events and that I should join the community's Facebook page.

I am EXCITED and SCARED at the same time. Building requires so many decisions!!

    1. Thanks M! I guess they have to draw the line somewhere or your house will never get finished.

  2. Is it just me or did the Verona on Taney way feel smaller than the model home in Sheridan?

    1. I didn't get that feeling that it was smaller. I think it looks WAYY different decorated vs. not decorated (another thing I hate about building. It's like bait and switch. The decorated model pulls you in but what you actually get is TOTALLY different.)

Have you walked through the Verona with the basement they are building? I can't remember the street but it's a corner house. When I walked through that house it felt very spacious. I still don't know what I would do with a basement. The house already offers plenty of room my family.

    2. No I haven't walked through it. I may ask to though. I want to walk through the other models but wasn't sure if Kenny would be like WHY? YOU ALREADY PICKED YOUR HOUSE. Haha!

    3. The one on the corner being built wasn't locked yet. They cabinets weren't in yet. They don't mind giving you the key so that you can get an idea of how it look with different options.

Believe me...several people will walk through your home before you close on it (neighbors along with folks contemplating buying).

  3. Also -- it may be because we did a delayed build and are having them push out our move in date until the end of June or early July, but I am doing changes way after the 30 days that I was initially told I could not.

    1. That is cool! I would be a mess second guessing everything for months. I probably would want to change lots by the time they started building.

Are you delaying the build so that you can sell your current house?

    2. I probably need to be told I can't make any more changes. I keep emailing after I overthink stuff and go "I want to change this!" But if there is something you really want, don't be afraid to ask they may still do it.

Yeah we are doing the delayed build because we want to sell the townhome (we live about a mile away from the new neighborhood) closer to 521 at 160. I really want to get in the new house more than anything but don't want to be carrying two mortgages if we don't have to.

    3. TOTALLY understand!! Who wants two mortgages. Do you know where the new elementary school is being built? I heard it was out down the street from the back entrance into the community.

  4. Oh no, I had no idea. Is it Indian Land or Fort Mill school district since I know we straddle the line there. I hope Indian Land, I'm not looking forward to having to drive Tanner down 521 a few miles if he ever misses the bus in a few years. Do you have children?

    1. It will be Indian Land district. I'm not sure if they have started building yet or not. I was just told that a new one was going up and should be up by the time my daughter is ready for K. She will be entering K next year.

    2. I drove back there last night and didn't see much yet if I'm thinking the same area you mentioned.

    1. Hi Julie!!! Yes, we did meet. I just sent the FB request to join the group. It was hard to find when I was searching for it. Luckily, Edgar sent me the link. Thanks again for taking time to talk with me about the community.
