Cabinets
We didn't get the island in the kitchen because we had the peninsula. Thanks to another blog, I found out that Timberlake (which only makes cabinets for new construction) parent company (American Woodmark Corp) make cabinets for Home Depot and Lowes. I reached out to them and asked what cabinet color at the retail stores closely resembles the Timeberlake Tahoe Cherry Square Bordeaux. They told me the Ashland Cherry Square Bordeaux at Home Depot (via special order).
This is great to know so that we have an option of adding another cabinet to create an island later (if we want). We won't make any decisions now. We will live in it and see how it works! Anyway, I know that one cabinet won't cost $2K, which is what they charge for the island.
It's also good to know just in case we want to add cabinets to the laundry room.

Thank you for the information about the cabinets!! We opted not to get an island because I want something bold and really deep rather than the small narrow one that was offered for our model. I'll definitely be lookin into this as an option!
ReplyDeleteYou can email the parent corporate and ask what color matches your Timberlake cabinets. It will either be the Home Depot or Lowes brand depending on color.
DeleteI don't think that I need the counter space but it is good to know just in case I change my mind. I would also probably not put granite on the island counter top. I would prefer that the island countertop matches the backsplash.
I saw that blog too...very helpful! We did get an island, but I thought about ordering the door panels to dress up the back of the island.
ReplyDeleteCool!
DeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH for this information!!
ReplyDeleteI tried to order crown molding from a local supplier and was told I had to be a contractor to order! :/ We know my DH could put this up no problem, he is very handy!

Your welcome! I hope everything works out!
DeleteWe have the same cabinets as you. Good to know about the Home Depot comparable color. I have a dream for some type of island....
ReplyDeletePlease post pics if you decide to add one!
DeleteGood research! Same cabs too... and I will be putting up crown, so it will be good to know what color to match with... hurray!
ReplyDeleteLet me know how things turn out!
DeletePINKRAGE, THIS IS A SUPER SCORE FOR ALL BLOGGERS!! THANK YOU!

ReplyDeleteI'm imagining this may be the original post you're looking at http://dreamrome.blogspot.com/2012/11/details-details-cabinet-translations.html
ReplyDeleteI'll be posting an update soon, there are a few additional details to be aware of, especially the cost... They are "custom" and the price shows. I got an a couple estimates at Lowes and they cost about 300% the price of stock cabinets you can get there... I'll try to come back with another link once I write about the details.
Thanks Julie... that was the blog I was referring to! I can't wait to see your update.
DeleteStuart, another blogger - gave me the information of our local Timberlake rep if you would like it let me know. That should be an exact match then, name and all?
ReplyDeleteYes, that would be great. If the brand from Home Depot is just as much as directly from Timberlake...then it only makes sense to use them.
DeleteIf you let me know your email address, I will forward it along.
DeleteMy email is in my profile now.
DeleteThey probably have a match at Lowes, too. I heavily researched all of that stuff! If they don't have it one day and you want an island, remember, they can compliment each other instead of match. Sometimes I think it's actually prettier that way because it adds interest.
ReplyDeleteOh, and they are on twitter! They are also quite interactive on twitter because they offered to help me get my crown for the cabinets. :)
I have seen people that made their island compliment instead of match. Thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteI wrote another cabinet post that includes info about the Timberlake product codes as well as pictures of my sample from Lowes and how it matches. http://dreamrome.blogspot.com/2013/02/kitchen-idea-and-cabinet-tips.html
ReplyDeleteI would love to see this info, but your blog is private, I'm new to this and not sure what to do next.
