Ryan-Customer Relations

As you know I sent a letter to customer relations regarding my concern of the same color siding. They did respond, which is a good thing. The bad thing is... the response made no sense. Basically, I was told that as long as it wasn't the same model and elevation then it's not a problem.

My neighbors signed their contract prior to me and their options were EXCLUDED from me (neither home next to me is a VERONA nor is it the same elevation). If their comments hold true, why couldn't I pick ANY color siding of my choice??

The house they are building across the street does not look like mine. That is not my complaint. My concern is,  why are rules changing? Why was I short changed from picking the siding color of my choice if it's fair game for all (as long as it's not the same model and elevation)? Why are some homeowners treated one way and others another?

  1. I'm calling bullshit on that too. We were excluded from having Stone Mountain Clay siding (our first pick) because our neighbor has it although they built a Ravenna and we built a Florence.

    1. We had the same issue when we built. The neighbors on either side were building the Bainbridge and the neighbor across the street was building the Avalon. We were told, up front, that even though we were not building the same model, the three siding colors they chose were knocked right off the list for us. We could select from what was left.

    2. It occurs too often where options are excluded for it NOT to be a rule. A rule that wasn't followed in my case. I have a VALID COMPLAINT!

  2. We definitely couldn't choose the same colors or the same elevation as my neighbors. That is messed up. Keep raising Cain with them.

  3. I know that it is BS. I went into the sales office last Saturday and ask the lady sales rep what was the rules. She didn't know I had a concern about it or anything. Quickly off the top of her head she said the same siding is not used on the house next to you or directly across the street. If that REALLY ISN'T A RULE, why would she tell me that?? She didn't make it up. Not to mention, it corresponds with my experience with RH (and many others).

I know everyone makes mistakes. I understand that. I expect a company in a customer service industry to admit their wrong doing and address my concern. I expect RH to do what is right. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

  4. i stopped in the Rome model in my 'hood saturday to kinda complain about the poor space management and why all the houses are the exact same. the only response they could offer me was that "everyone wants a Rome" (which they are not offering in the new section opening up) and that it's not the decision of the sales reps that controls who gets what. at this point they are basically trying to close out the section so they are selling what EVER makes money. that's why my side of the 'hood looks nuts. and identical.

    1. Hopefully it's not an issue for you. I would stay on them. I love the community. Thanks for the compliment on my house. It's a work in progress on the inside.

    2. Did you say Rosemont? I think I am in the same neighborhood as you!I also have a Verona. We moved in only recently, so I was looking for blogs to help me figure out where to place my furniture. :-) I've enjoyed reading through your posts. You have a beautiful home!

  6. We wanted a different siding color as well, but were told that our HOA prevented us from having the same brick, siding, shutters, and door color as any home next to us or across from us. It didn't matter to our HOA if it was a different model home, it still couldn't be the same. I feel your frustration.
